About Ruben Dario

Ruben Dario is a Venezuelan-born mixed media artist currently based between Los Angeles and Amsterdam.

His artistic journey began at the age of five, when his grandmother gifted him his first painting kit, sparking a lifelong exploration of color, form, and emotion.

Growing up in a conservative society with limited resources, Ruben believed that education would be the path to change the reality he was born into.

That belief led him to study languages, earning a Master’s in Linguistics, and later becoming a college professor. Over time, he discovered that art, much like language, was another way to communicate, a universal form of expression that could translate feelings, stories, and ideas through color.

Bold and Vibrant

By blending bold lines, layered textures, and geometric structures, Ruben transforms memory and experience into visual poetry.

His work is rooted in personal reflection yet deeply connected to universal human emotions. From the innocence of childhood to the search for visibility and love, each piece serves as both confession and invitation, an exploration of the light that persists within us.

Ruben has exhibited internationally in Italy, France and the Netherlands, as well as in New York, and Palm Springs, gaining recognition for his ability to merge emotional depth with formal innovation. Now living and creating in Los Angeles, he continues to expand his visual language through dimensional wall pieces that bridge painting and sculpture. His art serves as a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves, using geometry and color to tell stories that remind us of our shared humanity.
