About Ruben Dario
A contemporary mixed media artist and graduate of the University of Carabobo in Valencia, Venezuela, where he earned a Master’s degree in Linguistics, Ruben Dario began his professional path in academia before fully dedicating himself to his artistic practice.
Born in Valencia and raised in the town of Guacara, Venezuela, he began formal classical training at the age of five under the guidance of a local art teacher who recognized his early talent and mentored his development. This disciplined foundation, combined with an early introduction to painting through his grandmother, shaped a lifelong commitment to artistic exploration.
Growing up in a conservative environment with limited resources, Ruben came to view art as a means of transformation. His academic formation in linguistics continues to inform his work, shaping his approach to composition as a visual syntax. Through layered textures, controlled gesture, and dynamic color relationships, he constructs abstract compositions that translate memory, identity, and emotion into visual form.
His work has been particularly recognized in Italy, where he has created large-scale commissioned works for the city of Milan and the region of Trentino. These public installations expanded both the scale and impact of his practice, further establishing his presence within the European art landscape.
